Otto, Bram, Martha, Nellie, Gwendolyne, Daya, Salvatore, John, Stella, Fabienne and Juliette

Otto or "the Kiting Cook" has been working at KonTiki since March 2006. He prepares lunch on Saturday and Sunday and dinner from Wednesday through Sunday. Don't miss one of his dishes! Special requests? No problem for Otto.

Bram our youngest chef, has been working at KonTiki since April 2010. When Otto went to Holland for 5 months (!) he replaced him. He did such a great job, that we decided he should stay! Now they work as a team and replace eachother on days off.

Martha, our Columbian breakfast-and lunch chef, started in February 2003, first she did dishes and cleaning. Than she was responsible for the breakfast. Now she prepares lunch as well from Monday through Thursday. Her Bonairian husband Erik "Ikki" is a well-known taxi-driver on the island.

Nellie is from Columbia as well, introduced at KonTiki by Martha, in January 2007. She followed the same career as Martha; dishes, cleaning, breakfast and lunch. Besides that, Nellie helps in the restaurant as well, she is practicing her English while our guests can practice Spanish.

Gwendolyne, or "Wendy", is a Bonairian, young mother of three from Rincon. She started in August 2008 as an assistant in the kitchen for breakfast and lunch. She followed a special training at Forma, a Bonairian training centre. She improved herself a lot during the past year.

Dayanarah or "Daya" is our youngest employee, born and raised on Bonaire. She works 5 nights a week in the kitchen and in the restaurant. She followed the same training as Gwendolyne at Forma and started to work with us in August 2008 as well.

Salvatore, our Italian lunch and dinner waiter, has been working at KonTiki for one year now. He prepares great cocktails and takes pride in his work. He knows a lot about the music you'll listen to in the restaurant or at the bar.

John, our oldest employee, born and raised on Bonaire. He used to work in several hotels and restaurants on Bonaire, moved to Holland and came back in June 2009. Since than, he works at KonTiki. He is always in the mood for a nice chat and knows all the locals and special places to go!

Stella, this is John's girl friend, born and raised on Curacao, but moved to Holland, met John and joined him to live on 'his island' Bonaire in June 2009. She started working at KonTiki in April 2010. She is always smiling, very friendly and hard working. She helps out in the kitchen as well.

Mildred and Rachel

Two Bonairian local women who are very loyal, they work 6 days a week to clean the apartments.
Mildred has been working at KonTiki for more than 5 years and Rachel joined her in February 2011. 
Their specialty: Smiling to our loyal guests!

Sandra & Sam

Sandra works in the front-office since April 2009, you can find her there on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. She is a dive instructor as well. Besides answering e-mails and making reservations, she answers all dive related questions from our guests perfectly. She assists Miriam with the daily administration and book keeping as well. 

Samantha "Sam" is the latest addition to our team, she started working in the front-office in March 2011. She replaces Sandra on her days off from Thursday to Sunday. She answers all e-mails and phone calls, takes care of reservations and administration. Welcome to the team Sam!

Martin and Miriam are the owners of KonTiki since August 1998.
They started with the restaurant; Martin as a kitchen chef and Miriam as a waitress. They can tell you endless stories about those first "tough" years. After 2 years they decided to expand their activities by offering studio's for short term rent. A year later, in 2001, they took over the management of the Lac Bay Apartments. And in 2005 they got the opportunity to work together with Dolf Huygers, a Dutch investor in commercial and non-commercial projects. Dolf lives in the Netherlands, but travels to Bonaire a few times a year. He owns different commercial properties on Bonaire, on Saint Martin, in Brazil, in The Netherlands and in France.

Nowadays, Martin is involved in checking the daily operations, he is a spokesman to external parties and a marketing-and maintenance man. You can find him in the office, on the property, in his car or in the restaurant; he's everywhere!

Miriam can be found in the front- or back office from Monday through Friday. She does reservations, administration, book keeping, checking housekeeping, payments, promotions and marketing.
